Biography

Phillip C. Yang is a Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He directs the Cardiovascular Stem Cell Laboratory (Yang Lab) and Stanford Cardiothoracic MRI Program. Dr. Yang received degrees from Stanford University and Yale University School of Medicine, and completed post-graduate training at UCLA and Stanford University Medical Centers. Dr. Yang is a physician-scientist whose research interest focuses on clinical translation of the fundamental molecular and cellular processes of myocardial restoration. His research employs novel in vivo multi-modality molecular and cellular imaging technology to translate the basic innovation in pluriopotent stem cell biology. Novel intracellular molecules and organelles are discovered and studied for functional improvement. Dr. Yang is currently a PI on the NIH/NHLBI funded CCTRN UM1 grant, which is designed to conduct multi-center clinical trial on novel biological therapy. In addition, he is a PI on 3 NIH research grants, 1 CIRM grant, and leads 6 stem cell clinical trials. Currently, he is pioneering the Cardiovascular Regeneration Program at Stanford. Dr. Yang has been the recipient of several prestigious awards including NIH Career Development Award, NIH Career Enhancement Award, and NIH Patient Oriented Research. A very personable and friendly doctor. Easy to understand and clearly shows that he is genuinely interested in the patient's health.
Very good experience
DR. Yang is by far the most upfront, professional doctor I've had the experience to deal with. He is a no B.S. doctor and I just love that... I have no time to beat around the bush and want results. He is very informative and educating on all my medical needs and knows what's best for my health which is a rare commodity in todays medical profession. DR. Yang is in my opinion, the go to doctor for getting your heart back to normal, he does his research, finds the correct medical staff for the right procedures and takes the time to do what's best for his patients. It was an emotional rollercoaster but with Dr. Yang behind the wheel, I knew I would be in good hands. Stanford should be very proud to have such an honest professional doctor on their staff. Thank you Stanford, thank you Dr. Yang and thank you Dr. Viswanathan, my life was in your hands and you took care of me.
I have the utmost respect for Professor Yang. He has been my Cardiologist for about 10 years now and I have seen nothing except good intentions and respect from him. God bless him.

Dr. Yang has obviously read my histories written by other Stanford Health Care providers. He came in well-informed.
All was very well explained.
I have become aware of how little I know as I am just learning about cardiovascular as I age. I feel I have to become more adept with this knowledge. I am searching in journals, magazine articles and conference with my doctors. I have the Cleveland Clinic & Dr. Oz articles but little from Stanford. I teach a large senior group how to care for their bodies.
Very good.
Clear and in an orderly manner.
I felt so much confidence that it seemed I had known them a long time ago.
Excellent.
Dr. Phil Yang was outstanding in every aspect of care!
I always field good & appreciated.
Dr. Yang explained everything and made good suggestions for me to follow at home.
Very good work.
Dr. Yang took his lunch hour to speak with me!!!
Both Dr. Yang & his assistant MD provided excellent service.
Dr. Yang seemed to be a very competent, as well as personable doctor. However, most of the visit was with his assistant/intern. Dr. Oppondo. Dr. Oppondo did not ask us to wait for Dr. Yang and would not discuss some additional medication problem because she "did not have enough time". We only were able to talk to Dr. Yang in the hallway as we were leaving. We would definitely come back to Dr. Yang.
Excellent as always.
He explained everything to me in a way that was easy for anyone to understand.
Good.
Sent out report of echocardiogram with no personal comments or explanation of findings.
I feel lucky to be seeing Dr Yang I have referred my daughter in law and we are both very pleased.
