Dr. Ashley has a special interest in the care of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and other forms of familial cardiomyopathy. With expertise in cardiovascular molecular genetics, he runs an NIH funded laboratory investigating the biology of heart muscle disease. In addition, he has a particular interest in the care of athletes with cardiovascular disease and has active links to the Stanford Sports Medicine program.

StanfordHeidi Salisbury, RN, MSN, CNS

Clinical Nurse Specialist, Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease

Heidi received her BS in Kinesiology and minor in Spanish from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA in 1999. In 2002, Heidi completed her Masters and Clinical Nurse Specialist degrees in Nursing from San Francisco State University.
 
In 2002, Heidi started at Stanford Hospital & Clinics as a staff nurse for the Cardiac Surveillance Unit and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Heidi practices as a Staff Nurse IV and received her Critical Care RN certification. Heidi joined the team in the Cardiology Clinic as a Nurse Coordinator in September 2005 and continues to work closely with the Cardiac Care Units and Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Teams.

Heidi is dedicated to working to increase awareness of Hypertrophic CM in the community. In addition, she has a special interest in developing educational tools and support networks for families living with Hypertrophic CM.

Sarah Race, RN, MSN, CNSSarah Race

Clinical Nurse Specialist, Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease

Sarah was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  She moved to Vancouver, B.C. to complete a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a major in Cell Biology and Genetics from the University of British Columbia in 1998.  She moved back to Calgary to complete a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Calgary and was recruited to the United States shortly after graduation.  She worked as an ER nurse for 6 years before deciding to pursue further education.  She completed the Clinical Nurse Specialist program with a dual major of Cardiovascular Nursing and Genomics and received a Masters of Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco in 2010.  Sarah joined the Stanford Cardiovascular Clinic in October 2009.

Colleen Caleshu, ScM, CGCColleen Caleshu

Genetic Counselor, Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease

Colleen received her Bachelors in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in 2002. After working with a team researching the psychological impact of hereditary cancer, she went on to get her Masters in genetic counseling from Johns Hopkins University and the National Human Genome Research Institute in 2007. Colleen then moved to the Bay area to develop a clinical cardiovascular genetics program at UCSF. Colleen joined the Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease in September 2010.  She is passionate about providing excellent care to families with inherited cardiovascular conditions.

Paul J. Wang, MD

Professor
Director, Stanford Cardiac Arrhythmia Program and Electrophysiology Service

Dr. Wang received his medical degree at Columbia University. He received his medical residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. He completed his cardiovascular training at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

He has been involved in the initiation of the Syncope Evaluation Program and the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Program.

David Lee, MD

Assistant Professor, Cardiology

Dr. Lee received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his residency and fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center.

He is board certified in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Lee is a specialist in alcohol septal ablation.

His research includes brachytherapy, vascular remodeling, new treatment strategies for acute myocardial infarction, and coronary
venous mapping.

Robert Robbins, MD

Professor
Chair, Cardiothoracic Surgery

Dr. Robbins received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi and is board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery. He sits on the Executive Committee of the American Heart Associate's Council on Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

His specialties include surgical myectomy, heart and lung transplantation, valvular heart surgery, thoracic aortic surgery and arrhythmia surgery.

Phillip Yang, MD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Yang received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and he completed his fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease.

His sub-specialties include Cardiac MRI and Echocardiography. Dr. Yang's has a special interest in imaging hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
